MedPoint Launches in Tamworth

A Tamworth based pharmacy is the first pharmacy in the area to install a MedPoint!

MedPoint has launched at Easons Pharmacy, Wilnecote, Tamworth. The launch was attended by Tamworth mayor Cllr Michael Oates.

Easons Pharmacy, which was established over 60 years ago, is a family run business offering a range of advice and treatment for many minor ailments and injuries. Easons join healthcare providers across the UK in offering secure, automated prescription collections to patients.

MedPoint managing director, Gill Collins, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Easons pharmacy Tamworth to the MedPoint family. As someone who’s local to the area it’ll be great to see the machine benefitting the community first-hand, as well as my friends and family.

“Thank you to both Easons Pharmacy and Tamworth Mayor, Cllr Michael Oates for the warm welcome and reception at the machines launch, we enjoyed seeing the machine in action.

“Our team are dedicated to helping community pharmacies and healthcare providers survive and thrive, through the provision of British engineered solutions with end-to-end training and support.”

The Easons Pharmacy MedPoint has been installed into the existing shop front, meaning patients who register for the service, will be able to collect their prescriptions without needing to enter the pharmacy environment.

Superintendent pharmacist and owner of Easons, Kieran Eason, explained: “We decided to install a MedPoint to make it easier for our patients to access their prescriptions and to free up more time in the pharmacy to provide NHS services.

“Solutions like MedPoint allow us to offer more consultations under our award-winning ear, nose and throat treatment service, which allows us to treat simple conditions without patients needing to see their GP, helping the NHS save time too.

“We’re grateful to the mayor for attending the launch of our MedPoint and look forward to seeing patients use the machine.”

Mayor, Cllr Michael Oates, added: “The MedPoint technology is fantastic and means that shift workers do not have to make special arrangements to collect their prescription from the chemist. They can now collect as and when they are ready and at a time that’s convenient.

“When looking at the inside of the MedPoint, I was fascinated to see and understand how it all works, it makes the job easier for the operator. My mind boggles at what may be developed in the future. Thank you MedPoint for introducing this concept to Tamworth.”
